Vietnam is rapidly transforming its healthcare system through digital innovation, with investment in telemedicine, artificial intelligence (AI), electronic health records (EHRs) and connected healthcare technologies driving one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing digital health markets.

According to IMARC Group, Vietnam's digital health market reached US$2.84 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow to US$9.52 billion by 2034. The market is being fuelled by ambitious government digital transformation programmes, expanding healthcare infrastructure and increasing demand for technology-enabled healthcare services.

Vietnam's digital health strategy is reshaping healthcare delivery across the country. Government initiatives supporting electronic health records, nationwide telemedicine networks and interoperable health information systems are enabling healthcare providers to deliver more connected, efficient and patient-centred care. At the same time, widespread smartphone adoption, expanding 5G networks and increasing internet connectivity are making digital healthcare more accessible to millions of people.

Several structural trends are driving market growth:

  • Government investment in healthcare digital transformation.
  • Nationwide implementation of electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Expansion of telemedicine and remote patient monitoring services.
  • Growing adoption of AI-powered diagnostics and clinical decision support.
  • Increasing prevalence of chronic diseases requiring continuous monitoring.
  • Rising demand for healthcare analytics, wearable devices and mobile health applications.
  • Integration of digital identity platforms with healthcare services.
  • Strong investment from domestic technology companies and international healthcare providers.

Telehealth has emerged as the largest segment of Vietnam's digital health market. The country's telemedicine programme now connects more than 1,000 hospitals, enabling specialist expertise to be shared across provincial healthcare facilities and significantly improving access to healthcare in remote communities. Software solutions—including hospital information systems, AI-powered diagnostic platforms and electronic health records—represent the largest technology component, accounting for 57.05% of the market.

Digital health growth extends well beyond telemedicine. According to IMARC Group, Vietnam's eHealth market reached US$651.3 million in 2025 and is forecast to grow to US$2.24 billion by 2034, while the telehealth market is expected to increase from US$130 million to US$612.5 million over the same period, reflecting accelerating adoption of virtual care and digital patient engagement.

Electronic medical records are becoming a cornerstone of Vietnam's healthcare transformation. Government policy requires healthcare providers to implement electronic health records, creating sustained demand for hospital information systems, clinical software and interoperable digital platforms. The integration of health records with Vietnam's national digital identity platform (VNeID) is expected to improve continuity of care while supporting more efficient health data management.

Artificial intelligence is also becoming increasingly important across the healthcare sector. AI applications are being deployed to support medical imaging, pathology, clinical decision support, predictive analytics and hospital workflow optimisation, enabling clinicians to improve diagnostic accuracy while increasing operational efficiency. Combined with cloud computing, wearable health technologies and advanced analytics, these innovations are laying the foundation for a more connected healthcare ecosystem.

Leading technology providers including FPT Corporation, Viettel, VNPT, Microsoft, Google Cloud, Oracle Health, Philips Healthcare, Siemens Healthineers and GE HealthCare continue to invest in Vietnam's rapidly expanding digital healthcare ecosystem, supporting hospitals, healthcare providers and government agencies in delivering more integrated healthcare services.

As Vietnam continues to modernise its healthcare system, digital health is expected to become the foundation of future healthcare delivery. For providers of healthcare IT, artificial intelligence, telemedicine platforms, electronic health records, cybersecurity, cloud services and connected medical devices, Vietnam represents one of the most attractive digital health investment opportunities in Southeast Asia.
